Playgroup runs from August to June each year following the term dates and holidays of the East Renfrewshire Education Department. We are registered for a maximum of 15 children aged from 2 years for each Playgroup session. Sessions run from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Monday to Friday mornings. (Please note we do not close when the schools are on in-service days.)
Weather permitting, we provide an outdoor play area which is safe and secure. When outside the children are always supervised by staff.
The aims of Braidholm Playgroup are:
• to provide a safe and happy environment for all children;
• to provide and present a broad and balanced curriculum that encourages children to build upon their individual capabilities to reach their full potential;
• to respond to each child’s individual needs;
• to communicate with parents about their child’s progress at Playgroup
The fee for each session is currently £12.50 (a healthy snack inclusive) payable monthly in advance. There is also a Registration Fee of £15, which will be included in your first month’s invoice. If your child misses a session for any reason you are still required to pay the fee for that session. The fees are paid a month in advance.
Fees can either be paid in cash or bank transfer.
The curriculum follows a framework of five planned learning experiences following a framework set by the Scottish Executive.
Building confidence and a sense of worth, making friends and getting on with other children, learning to look after yourself, caring for others and for your surroundings.
Improving listening and talking, learning to enjoy stories and rhymes and use information, books, listening and recognising sounds and words.
Looking at and noticing things, people and places in the local area, designing and making things e.g. using construction toys, finding out about animals and plants, finding out about number, measurement and shape.
Learning to express ideas and feelings through painting, drawing and modelling. Acting out situations e.g. in the house corner and dressing up. Singing, dancing and making music.
Enjoying active play and becoming confident in movement. Developing skills like running, climbing, throwing and catching. Learning to make delicate movements with fingers and hands e.g. doing jigsaws, small construction, using pencils and brushes and cooking.
